What is Scouts?

Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.

What do Scouts do?

Scouts take part in activities as diverse as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas, photography, climbing and zorbing. As a Scout you can learn survival skills, first aid, computer programming, or even how to fly a plane. There’s something for every young person. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world.

What do Scouts do in Stowmarket District?

Around Stowmarket District we have nine active Scout Sections which are all part of their own group allowing youngsters to move smoothly through the sections as they get older.

In addition to a great sectional programme provided by the leaders from each group, the District Team provide a programme of events throughout the year that allow the groups to come together, compete or just socialise and meet other Scouts from outside their group.

The District Scout Section team led by James White (ADC Scouts) and his District Scout Leaders (DSL’s) Simon Oakley, Stuart Phillips and Darren Hayward and supported by the SAS Team and Network run a Frostbite Camp, District Camp, Patrol Leaders Camp & a Lightweight Hike at various points throughout the year.
